Last updated on 19-May-2013

In response to decreasing awareness of environment among youth of Haryana, the high court of Punjab passed a decision to the Haryana State Board to incorporate environmental studies in all diploma courses as a compulsory subject. The decision was done in favour of public interests and queries for environment support being passed by people of Haryana for many years now.

As per the decision from the coming semester in all Diploma courses, the environment will be a compulsory to pass the subject. The decision will be applicable to different diploma institutes all over Haryana. As per the decision environmental studies must be included in a course of diploma studies as soon as possible. So the decision lies on different institutes which offer diploma to introduce this subject from the coming year or introduce it immediately from next semester.

Marks allocated to subject are not clear year and instead of marks many diploma institutes are thinking to offer grades in environment studies instead of marks. However another decision related to environmental study subjects marks and course work might soon be past depending on the current environmental situation of Haryana. Students must compulsorily pass environmental studies subject in order to progress in the next year of diploma studies.
