CLAT Exam Exam 2013 – Dates, Eligibility & Application Procedure:- CLAT or Common Law Admission Test is an examination conducted for those candidates in India who are aspiring to get themselves admitted to the national law colleges of the country. This is a centralized test organized to recognize the merit of the students and select them accordingly for pursuing law courses from the top ranking law colleges of India.

When Did CLAT Start

The test became effective from 2008 when the first examination was scheduled on May 11, being conducted by NLSIU – Bangalore. Thousands of enthusiastic students appeared for the examination to fill in the total number of 1037 seats those were vacant in the law colleges. For the convenience of the candidates, the results of CLAT were declared quite fast on May 19, 2008. The test became highly effective thereafter and continues to benefit the meritorious students till date.

Important Dates

Date of sale Application form: 15 January 2013 (Tuesday)

Last Date for submission of filled-in Application Forms: 30 March 2013 (Saturday)

Dispatch of Admit Cards/Hall Tickets: Up to 13th April 2013 (Saturday)

Why CLAT Became Effective

Earlier the several law colleges in India used to conduct separate admission tests respectively. What resulted in that was the inconvenience faced by the students who often found the exam dates and timings clashing with other important or competitive tests. Moreover there were many candidates appearing for more than one of these exams conducted at different colleges on different dates, thereby not allowing a certain chunk of the students for acquiring the seats. These students may be otherwise quite intelligent and studious but situation did not let them to fulfill their dreams. Then CLAT was introduced so that every student got a fair chance in appearing for the same examination conducted on the same date.

CLAT 2013 Date

The 2 hours all India test conducted by all the 14 law colleges of India is for both their under graduate and post graduate courses. The 2013 exam is scheduled on May 12 from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

The interested candidates can apply for an online form as well. The 2013 CLAT application forms are available January 15 onwards.

Eligibility Criteria

For an under graduate course, the candidates appearing for the test must have minimum 50% marks at his/her plus two level, that is, higher secondary examination or any other equivalent exam. For the SC/ST/OBC or disabled candidates the aggregate marks should be above 45%. A student must be within the age of 20 years to be eligible for the test in the general category, else the age limit is 22 years.

For a post graduate course, the candidates should have qualified with LL.B. or B.L. degree or some other equivalent one, from any recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate, which has been fixed at 50% for SC/ST/OBC or disabled students.

Syllabus For CLAT

Given below is the detailed information on the question pattern for CLAT exams, of both under graduate and post graduate programs.

For an under graduate course the candidates have to appear for a 200 marks question paper within a time duration of 2 hours. There are 200 questions in total, each of which will carry 1 mark. The subjects to be followed are English grammar and comprehension of 40 marks, General knowledge and Current affairs of 50 marks, Legal aptitude of 50 marks, Elementary mathematics of 20 marks and Logical reasoning of 40 marks.

For a post graduate course the students will have to appear for a 150 marks question paper within a time slot of 2 hours. One has to write 4 long essay type questions of 25 marks each, and 50 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each, all of which basically cover the Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence.

Online Preparation

Various online sites offer online tips, books and sample question papers for the CLAT examinees.

LSAT Exam 2013 – Dates, Eligibility & Application Procedure:- Every year the LSAT exam is taken 4 times the Law School Admission Test or LSAT as it is better known as is the test trough which the different Law Schools in USA, Canada and may other countries take students in their curriculum. Different countries follow different methods and days for administering the LSAT exams. In the UK and some other countries, the test is taken on Saturdays except in June when the test is administered on some other day- mostly on Mondays. In some countries like in USA and Canada, the test is taken in December or in September.

Generally the test assesses the verbal reasoning of the applicants through the questions set on the papers. The test paper will be different sections- mainly 5 different sections and the time for each is divided quite easily into 35 minutes for every set. Law Schools of most of the countries will take the test score on the basis of best 4 out of the 5 section and the results are prepared. The merit list is issued on the websites. Often the applicants can take the test in repeated manner as the tests are repeated with the chance of making the scores better.

Important Dates

LSAT Exam Date:- 19 May, 2013

Last Date of Application form:- 28 April, 2013

Result Date:- 15 June, 2013

Different measures for LSAT:

The LSAT is taken to actually assess the skills of the applicants and the chances of them to make progress in the different schools in the countries that they can apply for. The LSAT is often taken to get the knowledge properly on the skills in organizing people as well as the ways that can be taken by these students in creating a leadership status. There are thus certain measures that are included in the LSAT so that the right assessment can be done.

Analysis of reasoning based question is there. The questions are set on the basis analysis of those questions and that is used to make the proper answers based on relationships of the statements given. Often the questions are based on relationships that can be also used for analysis. These questions are quite common for LSAT.

Reading kills are important. The LSAT is taken based on the reading skills on comprehensions and understanding those as well. The questions are set on the basis of the deep and complex understanding of the texts given.

Logical skills are tested. The questions are made with drawings and different other sets that will have the brains to be used. The logical reasoning section often includes understanding the texts and the application of rules properly in the right place.

With these the assessments are done through LSAT.

LSAT format:

The test is taken in different sections- generally 5 and the test timing is fixed with 35 minutes for every section of the test. The test results are made on 4 of 5 sections and the best of the 4 is taken as the primary condition for issuing the merit list. Chances of people repeating the test in the next administered time can be done in order to get a better result.

Things not to take to the LSAT hall:

For the test to go smoother there are things that are not to be taken to the hall by the candidates. The most important thing is the use of gadgets like calculator is not allowed. So, calculators must not be there in the hall. Use of mobile is not allowed at all. Students must also not have any kind of paper with them in the LSAT exam. For any tough work or more, papers will be provided.

It is thus quite clear that today the LSAT is getting popularity. Students are readily taking the test to get admission to some top colleges in other countries.
