After the College of Engineering, Guindy and IIT Roorkee, Government College of Engineering, Pune is the third oldest Engineering college in Asia.
It is affiliated to Pune University and the college gained complete sovereignty in the year 2004 by the state government because of which it can modify its courses according to the changing needs of the industry.

Eligibility criteria for all programmes:
For Undergraduate – The candidate should have passed the 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent level of examination with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
For Post Graduate – The candidate should have completed his/her Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field of engineering.
Admission procedure for all programmes:
For Undergraduate – The candidate is selected on the basis of their score in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education.
For Post Graduate – The candidate is selected on the basis of their score in the General Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
