IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) entrance will be held in new format that will not only help maintain the brand value of IITs but also help them tap bright minds out of all aspirants. Union Minister, MHRD, Kapil Sibal is very sure about the efficacy of the newly proposed IIT entrance exam format.
Since this new format of Joint entrance exam will take into account 40% weightage of the class XII board marks, it will require students to pay equal attention to their class XII studies. According to Mr. Sibal, it will reduce dependency on the coaching institutes.
Mr. Sibal, further explained about this format. According to him, this exam will be conducted in 2 parts; Mains and Advanced. The Mains exam will be an aptitude test and advanced exam will test the knowledge of the candidate for various subjects. The entire exam will be prepared by IIT. This new format will come into action from the next academic session.
Though this might be a well-thought step in this direction, many students disagree with the thought that this will reduce the dependency on coaching institutes. Rather, they think, it will make them even brasher and will create more irregularities in board exams. At the same time, many state boards asked for time to ponder over this proposal.
