What is SET

SET Exam 2013 – Dates, Eligibility & Application Procedure:- Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a common written test for the admission processes of undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University established as under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. In the year 2002 there were 3 constituent institutes of SIU. Subsequently ten more Institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of Symbiosis International University vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).


It is a mandatory written test for the admission process for the undergraduate programmes of the following Symbiosis institutes namely:

•           Symbiosis Law School [SLS] – Pune

•           Symbiosis Law School [SLS]-Noida

•           Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research [SICSR]

•           Symbiosis Center for Management Studies-UG [SCMS-UG]-Pune

•           Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication [SIMC-UG]

•           Symbiosis School of Economics [SSE]

•           Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies [SCMS]-Noida

•           Symbiosis Institute of Design [SID]

However, SET is not mandatory for the Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), Symbiosis College of Nursing (SCON) and Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts (SSLA).

Symbiosis is one of the prominent institutes in India. Getting admission into the institute is a dream of many students, so they need to take the entrance exam for having their dream. Symbiosis offer courses like Management, Law, Design, IT and computer application and Medical technology programs etc. The entrance exam is conducted in national level and around 18 test centres will be provided for the candidates.

SET Exam Date:- 4 May, 2013

Result Date:- 20 May, 2013

Last date of Online registration:- 14 April, 2013

Last date of Payment:- 16 April, 2013

Structure of Symbiosis Entrance Test

The exam is of objective type with multiple choices. There is a negative marking system for each wrong answer so the students should carefully mark the answer from the four options. There are totally 150 questions and the students are asked to complete the test within two and half hours. The five areas of the question are

  • English
  • Quantitative
  • General awareness
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning

Syllabus of Symbiosis Entrance Test

There is no proper syllabus for the exam. The students should practice the questions from the above domains.


Out of 150 questions English carries 25 questions and the students can practice certain areas like

  • Synonyms
  • Antonyms
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Dictionary meaning of different words
  • Correct grammar usage and their rules etc.

Quantitative Aptitude

It also carries 25 questions and the areas need attention are

  • Geometry
  • Algebra
  • Statistics

General Awareness

This section carries out 60 questions and students should know the current issues and events in

  • Business
  • Health
  • Legal Area etc.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning

This section carries 40 questions and the areas covering are

  • Coding and decoding
  • Data interpretation
  • Definitely true or false statements
  • Probably true or false statements etc.

Study Plan for Symbiosis Entrance Test

Practice and Practice is the short cut for scoring high. They can practice with the text book of the same or can get the study material in net. They have to learn to adjust the time and solve each question within the prescribed time. So the best way of preparing for the exam is to practice number of mock tests and understand the weak area.

  1. plse tell me the exam date of set 2013/14 i already applied for test the exam date was announced on 22 sep 2013 but i think it is not possible for exam because of telangana issue ple tell me the exat date so that i can attend exam from delhi… thank you.
